Fra Rafael Spinola, lordly Genoese Baliff of the Order of St John, commissioned his Spinola Palace. It was designed by the renowned architect Romano Carapecchia. It is now sadly hidden behind modern urban developments that have choked the once bucolic and sleepy fishing village of St Julian’s. October marks the height of the Lampuki Season and the St Julian’s fishermen of yesteryear unravel their nets under the benevolent gaze of the exalted Grand Bailiff.
