November is the Month of the Dead. The wealthy village of Zebbug abounds in splendid examples of 16th 17th and 18th century domestic architecture. It still fascinates the visitor and forms the backdrop for the horse-drawn hearse that until the 1960’s was still used to carry coffins. These vehicles exuded funeral pomp in black and gilt decorated with all the paraphernalia that went with the old funeral rites prevalent at the time.
